Redefining Social Connections in London
Hailed by Time Out and Eventbrite as one of London's top monthly events, The FriendZone is revolutionising how we connect through ‘Social Skydiving’—the art of talking to strangers. 🪂
Our curated experiences blend playful games, meaningful conversations, and a warm atmosphere, creating connections that go beyond the evening.

"Would you rather complete a triathlon naked, or eat a New York subway rat whole? The question has sparked a heated discussion between four of us: me, a civil servant, a German tourist, and an aspiring stand-up comic.
Around us, people are playing giant games of Jenga, making sculptures from playing cards, and yelling answers to a mass game of Pictionary. There’s a cheerful hum in the room. Impressive, given this is a bar full of strangers and we’re in famously unfriendly London. Eventually, we agree on the triathlon. We’re playing Pick Your Poison, a game that sees players presented with unpalatable options and forced to choose. It’s one of many conversation starters dotted around the polished London bar playing host to the FriendZone, a sort of friendship speed-dating for city dwellers…”
"Launched in 2014 by co-founder Asia Diaz, The FriendZone is London’s answer to the growing challenge of social isolation in bustling urban environments. This innovative concept offers a refreshing departure from traditional networking events, creating a vibrant, pressure-free space where genuine connections flourish naturally.
She says: “About 10 years ago, a friend and I found ourselves caught in a cycle of disappointment. We’d constantly seek out events in London, only to be met with a recurring sense of dissatisfaction. At each event – whether it was a musical show, a comedy gig, or a game night – we’d end up as mere spectators, alongside other attendees. Despite being surrounded by people our age, we weren’t interacting, making new connections, or forming friendships. We were just there, watching…”
🔻 “Ever been social skydiving? Nope, it doesn't mean having a catch-up with your mates while you fall out of a plane, it refers to the 'art' of talking to strangers. You can learn how at The Friend Zone, which isn't a singles' event, as the organisers are at pains to point out. Instead it's all about networking and teaching how to chat to new people for the first time, covering topics such as ice breakers and making people laugh. Walking into a door is always good for that last one, though it might not earn you too many social stripes.”
🔺“It comes naturally to Londoners to avoid eye contact, minimise smiles, mumble any gratitude and avoid conversations with strangers at all costs. But there are lots of great people out there, many of whom will bring joy to your life for years to come, and this evening of games, competitions and fun in general will help you find some of them. It's not a dating night, and you're not expected to fly solo – the more friends you bring the more friends you're likely to make. Just come along ready to get involved and see who the night takes you to.”
